I was curious about how one gets started writing a column for the paper - do students/faculty generally have to have written other things (general reporting) first, or can they just pitch an idea and it will get taken up?
For example, I was thinking it would be great to have a monthly (or something? weekly?) feminist column, something perhaps written by a revolving group of self-identified feminist students, faculty and staff at BGSU. Would there be any interest in this type of column? The campus in general isn't a particularly women- or feminist-friendly space, and I think for those students who are interested in feminist issues, it'd be a welcome source of discussion and information (and could probably get the paper some good PR, if word got out on the feminist blogosphere that BG had a feminist column). Who should one talk to? Would it be possible to have a group-authored column, instead of just one individual (so that instead of citing Katie So-and-so, it'd list GWC or BG Feminists or whoever)?
